Before determining the capacity of Poe switch, we need to make clear three concepts: Poe power supply standard, total power of Poe switch and power of receiving equipment.
There are two Poe power standards, AF and at. The maximum power of the former is 15.4W, and the power reaching the receiving equipment is 12.95w. The maximum power of the latter is 30W, and the power reaching the receiving equipment is 25W.
If the power of a webcam is 15W, it is obvious that the POE switch that only supports AF standard can not meet its needs. It needs the POE switch that supports at standard.
The total power of Poe switch is an important index to measure the number of machines, which directly affects the number of machines.
If the total power supply rate of 16 port Poe switch tbc-psf5616u-2gf is 250W, it can supply 16 ports (250 / 15.4 = 16), but if the maximum power supply of single port is 30W according to ieee802.3at standard, it can only supply 12 ports (250 / 30 = 9).
In general, first understand the maximum power consumption of the equipment to be powered, and then divide the total power supply of Poe switch by the maximum power consumption, we can get how many devices a Poe switch can power, that is, its capacity.
